Episode 33 - LET IT BE

In the last 11 days we have celebrated Valentines day and Presidents Day and completed the second impeachment trial of the 45th President and in February 1964 the Beatles first landed in America!

LET IT BE

Let it be, seems the way to see

the beautiful shiny black snake

hundreds of ants swarming over

its scaly body still warm

another death by automobile.

How many days and hours do I have left,

to sit in the afternoon breeze and setting sun,

to see two turtles heads pop up,

to hear the singing blackbirds

to stare at the rippling water,

where unseen life goes on under the surface,

Let it be.

Disappointed with the one and only

judge and jury of the photo exhibition,

for all the great entries he ignored

choosing so many colorful Roseate Spoonbills,

who patiently stared at our cameras.

Let it be.

Now I watch the golden sunset paint

a new cloudscape

as another day drifts away

Let it be.

JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL?

Do you remember Jonathan Livingston Seagull?

I wonder what to name the chirping blackbirds

winging over my head into the pine forest,

flying in twos and threes towards their rookery.

following their flight plan,

finding their nightly resting place.

Another four pairs fly by high,

they have a clearer direction than I,

more keep coming and going somewhere.

Where am I going?

gets easily forgotten in the daily doing,

cleaning, feeding, moving, sleeping,

taking care of this body.

I need to go somewhere now,

this plastic bench is really hard, uncomfortable

and the quiet moments with birds singing

keep being overpowered by noisy traffic

echoing over the water.

Moving is vital,

the ants have found my ankles.

NEW PRESIDENTS DAY

I am no Amanda Gorman, a brilliant poetic light

However I will do my best to also bring you delight.

Half a century and our color separate us

but we both speak from love and hope.

Dear President Biden, may I call you Joe

good to have someone to whom we can say “Hello”.

Working for us saying kind words, applying healing sutures

so for our children and the world we can see better futures.

Good to have a team working together who really care

to make this country for everyone equal and fair.

Sitting here meditating on the Heart of all,

I am so delighted you responded to the call.

You followed your heart to take this job on

After you allowed time to heal the loss of your son.

Looking forward, I contemplate what I can offer

to uplift the world so fewer people will suffer,

not simply through lack of shelter and food,

but also feeling stuck in a sad or bad mood.

Your taking strong actions Covid to control

we believe you are on a good roll

and giving the country back its soul.

SO GO JOE GO!!

VALENTINE’S DAY

VALENTINE’S DAY Has come and gone

and the impeachment trial is also done

So no matter what we feel

its time to let it be

A chapter in America’s history.

Not to be forgotten or dismissed

we must stay alert for those forces of destruction

who think they are displaying patriotic gumption.

How can we  remove misinformation

and recover the voices of scientific reason

to avoid more violence and treason.

I am struggling to find answers

when so many live in this other world,

for reasons I cannot comprehend.

I see no benefit for them or us

even as I want to understand

I am left mystified by the power

that has captured so many minds,

generated so much fear and hate.

May love and compassion swallow fear and hate

and we all, once again,

walk together into the future,

leading the farting camel

rather than being dragged behind it!

A few lines from:

Cast all your votes for dancing - by Hafiz

…Learn to recognize the counterfeit coins

that may buy you just a moment of pleasure.

but then drag you for days like a broken man

behind a farting camel.

You are with the Friend now.

Learn what actions of your delight Him.

What actions of yours bring freedom and love.. . . .

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY
